rome: the vegetation

spring was definitely in the air in rome last week. the vegetation is the first thing i notice when somewhere new and rome did not disappoint! flowers, blossoming trees, moss, grass, shrubs and brush. some intensely manicured and others growing freely...

march 8th was festa della donna which is international womens day. its customary on that day for men to give a sprig of the mimosa flower to the important women in their life.

a favorite/common sight: new growth dripping over ancient materials.

the pinus pinea or the umbrella pine tree, with its perfect canopies, is the quintessential roman tree.
