we both just got our nails done- and man, that feels really satisfying. that and looking through all the pieces we currently have in the shop. it's packed full of good items right now. we were both on a bit of a roll there making and making and making. it's a color wonderland. now we can just sit back and inspect and enjoy the collection. since this is our side-project, we only make things when we're feeling excited about and that keeps the process joyful.
it's another in a long line of rainy weekends here in Minneapolis. this morning instead of heading out to the garden we're staying in... so this will be as close as I get to digging in the dirt today: a few of the blooming and emerging plants from the garden in my favorite vase (maker unknown).
we're currently a little bowled over by katie lockhart and darryl ward's place on the selby. it might just be perfection. you have to go see it for yourself. it's all too good to edit down to a few photos so what's the point------> just go take a look.
katie does have a shop which has also stolen our hearts. check out all the everyday needs you didn't know you needed but now you will:
last weekend, my husband and some friends set out in search of the elusive and mysterious morel mushroom. they were lucky enough to hunt and gather a whopping 48 of them. a large group of us gathered last night to cook them up and today all i want to do is read about and look at crazy pictures of morels. if you get your hands on any morels this season, this recipe was a stunner. happy hunting!
may seem a little early to call out our "greatest hits" but after four solid months since opening our shop we're feeling a little nostalgic for some of these hot, colorful, already sold items. they pulled us through the winter and into spring and now we're thinking they sure would be goodlooken with our summer wardrobe too. we might need to remake some of these! but look at all these new colorful gems looking for homes...
ch-ch-changes are in store for dD. we're gonna Double with a capital D the amount of goods in the shop beginning... today aka right now! really, go see. as they say: the more the merrier. go big or go home. large and in charge...
why do movie theaters always have the best carpet?
and if you haven't seen bill cunningham new york yet, i would highly recommend it. we all could learn a little something from him in regards to living humbly and simply and never compromising our vision for our life and work.
ohhh my, look at this eclectic and cheerful shop/blog/story we just came across (a kindred spirit of sorts, it seems). Big Things features objects from their travels, friends and personal collections. kind of like a tweaked west coast version of beloved kiosk?! more about them on their blog.
