what is to come

we just added one shiny and bright double strand bracelet to the shop. does it really deserve it's own blog post? absolutely. ok ok it can share the spotlight- we've been busy filling shop orders! --- 4 to be exact. the one below was everything we made for the palace store, in portland, oregon. we're so happy to have our goods in what sounds/looks like a sweet spot.

the best present

jen has made me some remarkable gifts (knitted, sculpted, beaded, sewed...) but this one that she made for my birthday last week, has my full attention and adoration. it's a hand built ceramic vessel of sorts. she said it could function as a vase but i had my sights on making it a home for 2 little succulents. remind me to take a picture of e v e r y t h i n g she's ever made for me and remind me to call the post "ode to jen".

when we woke up this morning the first thing we did was check the ship & shape shop (in fact we we were up in the middle of the night and couldn't help but checkin at 2am). we were the first to drop off our goods last week to annika, erin, and maddy. excited by their always innovative styling and photography - not to mention all the pieces themselves, we kept checking their blog in the hopes of a sneak peak all week (yeah, we're a little impatient- we admit it). we're delighted to say that everyone made new things this time, sometimes working in totally new mediums and it's no surprise that everything is, again, lovely and beautifully crafted. we're lucky to be included among so many talented makers-

you guys, ship & shape is at it again, round 2, ding ding ding! a lovable mini valentines collection of limited edition handmade objects/jewels/wears by all our/your favorite makers is set to launch. we made 2 pieces (1 necklace + 1 bracelet = match made in heaven) and they all debut tonight at midnight. will you stay up for the unveiling?

these are ghana borg baskets and we're crazy for them. with this many designs/colors/shapes it seems ones whole life could fit neatly inside. what a lovely organized life it would be too.  the few we have in our homes now clean up and tuck toys/magazines/winter hats/yarn/laundry/anythingandeverything neatly in their place.

the story of where and how these baskets are made- quite compelling.

5 new pieces appeared in the shop last night. this eerie springish weather we're experiencing in minneapolis has brought out the color happy in us. so sorry, no more weather talk - b o r i n g.

Hunt & Gather

trying to describe the visual oasis that is Hunt & Gather (on Xerxes ave in south minneapolis) is a bit hard because it claims to be an antique shop but it's so much more. and to be honest, the outside does not announce itself as a place we want to visit (think tacky paint job, and not the good tacky) but once inside, we get lost in the wonderland that is a well edited and intricately displayed room after room after room of the most wonderful old and storied objects. let the pictures do the rest of the talking...

all these bracelets are in the shop at the moment and we've noticed there are so many pairs hiding in there... it's like they were made with the other in mind. ok, only one pair was! but romance is in the air- things are being drawn together everywhere.

we recently came across this beautiful shop- The Supply Room. stocked with all of our favorite items from our favorite designers along side things that are new to us--- happy surprises all around. visit the shop in Santa Barbara located at the Presidio Motel or visit them online.

 or more realistically- p p p playing. one for an order and one for ship & shape (coming soon). it's not the best photo of the two we made this morning, but you gotta love the light in the room and all those plants fool us into thinking that we're not in the midst of a dry cold winter. and that wood turned bowl?! thank you to jen's father in law- he's turning wood these days and we're happy to have some of the goods in our hot little hands.
