things aren't adding up around here: we're both experiencing crazy colds that are usually reserved for the depths of winter and some of us are settling into school schedules and routines while it's still intensely summer outside (school before labor day should be a crime). we're still seeing irresistible shape & color intersections with distractions of plants, though. over and over. that will never ever change. summer forever.

keep an eye on the shop, it will be refreshed one of these days....

very charmed ---- by the people, the preparations & presentations, that baby!, the background music, the accents, the relationships, the setting, the recipes. humanity at its finest.

and we're itching for the shop to feel fresh again. back to school fresh! we have some pieces waiting in the wings that i'll (emily) add in the next week or so while jen happily resides in newborn land a while longer.

on monday, one of the most vibrant and glorious days of the summer, jen gave birth to a healthy baby girl! they're all doing well and in another dimension of happiness and transition.

dream shop

ROLU recently completed an artists residency at the walker art centers open field, which was exciting to watch unfold. for a portion of their project, they asked Rhiannon Gilmore (of intelligent clashing) to make a contribution.

her words:

"what i really want is my own shop. will you make me one? if we really are wherever our attention is then i'm in my shop and it's stocked with things made by all the people i've met online. it would somehow feel right if my shop existed too far away for me to visit - just like it does now (being only in thought) it would be mine and never mine. if you build it, i'll stock it."

"the shop acts not only as a sculptural realization of gilmore's desires but behaves as a snap-shot of a current community of artists / makers / designers who operate and communicate online."
